Fuel Shortage Continues, However, Should be Short Term

letstalkThe fuel shortage continues across the South Plains and in Levelland.

At last check, Monday night, Levelland Stripes were all very low on fuel or out of fuel, Murphy USA on East Highway 114 was out of fuel.  Allsups, United Express, Scooters and Joshua Park all had fuel.

We continue to be told it is a shortage due to supply issues and a problem with local vendors supplying fuel to many of the area stations.  Phillips 66 continues to say that the refinery in Borger continues to operate at a less than normal state and they continue to work with alternate sources to supply fuel to the Amarillo, Lubbock and Albuquerque.

United Express released an additional statement, Monday evening, “due to internal issues experienced by some of our major supply partners, many area fuel retailers, including United Express, continue to experience intermittent fuel supply delays.

United Express has great relationships with all of our transportation and supply partners and we are working diligently to minimize the inconvenience to our guests. We are continuing to receive orders throughout the day and we expect very few locations to experience any long-term outages.

Updates from our supply partners still indicate that these delays will be short-lived. Time frames to 100% functionality are referenced in days, not weeks.”

Consumers are urged, not to panic buy, so as to avoid further shortages.
