Vehicle Strikes Gas Meter, LFD Responds

Levelland Fire Department received a call on Friday about a gas meter that had been damaged, and was leaking gas in the area of Double U Drive in town. When fire teams arrived, they found a slightly damaged vehicle a few feet away from the gas meter in the alley behind the residence. The driver stated she was not injured. Atmos was contacted, but before they could arrive, the fire teams were approached by a local plumber that had been working in the area. He stated he had closed the gas meter valve prior to the team’s arrival. Seeing as there was no leak, the fire teams secured the meter valve with an Atmos lock and returned to the station. Atmos will handle any repairs through their technicians.
