Friday saw the retirement of a local Hero. Margaret Golightly, who’s worked and led emergency dispatch for the City of Levelland for more than 30 years said her heartfelt goodbyes at a reception in Studebaker’s events on the Square Friday. A large crowd of City personnel, first responders, friends and family gathered to celebrate her illustrious career. In an interview with the Hockley County News Press, Ms. Margaret had this to say:
“I hope the public and community feel this way, but I feel very fortunate because I have been able to sit, watch everything progress, build and get better. This is my town. This is where I spent all my yesterdays. I thank God for being raised her,” said Golightly. “I had a lot of opportunities, good friends and wonderful coworkers. Everyday is not sunny, there are still some bad people in the world, but we have been fortunate to be watched over by wonderful officers. I take my hat off to every one of them and I love every one of them.”
A bench in front of the Levelland Police department Communications Center has been dedicated in her honor.
