Levelland Mainstreet Awards Façade Grants

The Levelland Main Street Program is excited to announce the project recipients of the 2022-2023 façade grants. Façade grants focus on the exterior work of storefronts (visible to the public) on commercial buildings and upper story residential buildings in the Main Street area. Examples of such improvements (but not limited to) are awnings, window rehabilitation, brick repair, exterior paint, and signage. Applicants are encouraged to promote historic preservation, energy efficiency, and accessibility standards in designing improvements, to the extent that they are financially feasible or required by law. All improvements must conform to applicable city building codes, zoning ordinances, local, and state laws and to the design guidelines adopted for the area and approved by City staff and the Main Street Advisory Board. Facade improvements to properties are strongly encouraged to be completed in accordance with the historical integrity of the building.

The grant consists of a one-dollar to one-dollar match up to $2000. Grants will be administered as reimbursements once approved projects have been completed as agreed and detailed itemized receipts are shown for work completed. This grant cycle award was issued at an all-time high of $12,000, to six applicants. The Main Street Board read through the applications and made the recommendation to City Council, and they unanimously approved them. We would like to congratulate recipients including: 806 Barbershop, Champion Sports, Studio K’ Vintage Gifts, T & S Antique and Craft Mall, Your Shop and Revenge Fitness. Projects include new and replacement awnings, brick and concrete work, painting, new signage, and lighting.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see these projects come to life and so proud of our downtown property
owners, for reinvesting in their properties and caring about, how they each contribute to the overall look
of the district,” says Main Street Manager, Tania Moody. “The economy is not necessarily conducive to
doing “extra” for one’s business, so this effort in façade improvement, shows the great love and pride
these folks take in where they choose to locate their business and the part they play in Downtown
Levelland.” The Main Street Board and City of Levelland is proud to stand by our locally owned
businesses, and glad that we have tools like the façade grants, to provide additional resources. Façade
grant reimbursements will be given as projects are completed and we encourage everyone to take the time to go downtown and look around at what a difference these have made in the past three years and what an incredible treasure we have in The City of Mosaics, downtown Levelland.
