LMS Bands Advance To Area Competition

This just in from LMS Band Director Gary Owens:

The Levelland MS bands have advanced to the Area level of the Association of Texas Small School Bands Outstanding Performance Series competition. Recordings of our UIL performance evaluations were submitted in April for this summer recording competition that culminates in San Antonio at the Texas Bandmasters Association convention in late July where selected bands recordings will be heard.  Our students are representing our Region (the area around Lubbock) in the middle school band division. They placed 1st & 2nd in concert March and the top 3 places for Concert Band pieces. The area competition coming up later this month will be competing with 3 additional regions covering all of West Texas and these winners will represent this area (one of 5 areas in the state). We are excited for the students in last school years Symphonic and Concert Bands for such a wonderful achievement. The pieces advancing are: Highlander Regiment March, Wedgwood March, Red Giant, Japanese Pictures, and Qin Shi’s Stone Army.
