On Sunday night, April 11, a little after 11 pm, an officer was dispatched to 14th and Ave J in reference to a disturbance between a man and woman in the street.
Upon arrival the officer spoke with a male who advised that the woman was sick and had just been out of the hospital for a couple of days.
When asked if they were being loud in the street, the male said “no”, that he was just trying to get the female to come back into the house. While this conversation was taking place, the officer observed that the female was visibly shaking.
As the female had scratches on her arm, a witness advised that she had been chased into the street by the male subject. It was unclear whether she had been pushed or had fallen.
The male subject claimed that they were not really arguing and that he was not really yelling at her, just trying to get her to go back in the house. Asked how she got the scratches, the male subject said he didn’t have any idea.
The male was then arrested for Assault Family Violence. It was determined by the arresting officer that further violence would occur if the male wasn’t arrested. He was then transported to Hockley County Jail.
