Lubbock Police Officer Injured after Being Dragged by Suspect’s Vehicle

Monday April 5th at about 2:30 AM, a Lubbock Police Officer was patrolling the 3000 block of Idalou Road when he noticed a suspect’s vehicle failed to have proper license plating, and he pulled the suspect over.

Reports say the officer got out of his vehicle, walked up to the suspect’s vehicle, and asked him to turn off the vehicle.  The suspect asked why, and at which time the officer reached into the vehicle to turn it off. At the same time, the suspect sped off.  In an effort to control the speeding vehicle, the officer grabbed the wheel but was unable to release it.

The officer was dragged approximately 100 feet but was unable to apprehend the fleeing suspect. The officer was taken to University Medical Center.  His condition is unknown.

The Lubbock Police Department has not released the name or description of the suspect in this case.
