Two People Die in Post House Fire

Post Fire Department was called to a double structure fire on Tuesday afternoon. The call came in around 4:40 pm in the 100 Block of North G Place.

According to the Post and Garza County Emergency Management office, the mobile homes were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. It took firefighters approximately 15 minutes to get the fire under control and they remained on the scene for over an hour totally extinguishing the blaze.

A 15 year old and a 12 year old were in the house at the time of the fire. They were pronounced dead on the scene. The children’s mother and sister were not home at the time. The first mobile home was declared a total loss and the damage to the second has not been determined.

The cause of the fire is not known, the Fire Marshall’s office is currently investigating.
