New COVID-19 Numbers Released by the State After Some Errors in Reporting Last Week

The Texas Department of State Health Services released updated numbers for Hockley County late yesterday. The first look at the numbers indicated a decrease in some numbers from last week. The health department said the decrease was due to an error in reporting numbers last week.

The report indicates 18 new cases over the last week with three new probable cases and zero new deaths. There was also 35 new recoveries. Based on the new information there is a total of 2,135 cases of COVID-19 in Hockley County with 283 probable cases, 100 deaths and 2,287 recoveries leaving 31 active cases.

The hospitalization rate in Trauma Service Area B which Hockley County is a part of continues to be much lower than the 15% threshold set by the Governor’s office before restrictions would have to be put back in place. The rate currently sits at 2.12%.
