18 New Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Hockley County, Hospitalizations Rates Continue to Decline

The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed several new cases of COVID-19 in Hockley County.

According to information released Thursday evening, there are 18 new cases of COVID-19 with three new probable cases and three new recoveries.

Based on the new information there are a total of 1,891 cases of COVID-19 with 220 probable cases, 94 deaths and 1,897 recoveries leaving 120 active cases. The hospitalization rate for Trauma Service Area B which Hockley County is a part of continues to decline and is now at 13.49%. This is day 2 since mid-October that the region has been below the threshold of 15% set by the Governor. If the region can stay below 15% for seven consecutive days, then restaurants can open to 75% capacity and bars can re-open in the region.

The latest vaccine numbers for Hockley County indicate 1,025 residents have received their first dost of the vaccine and 257 are fully vaccinated.
