Levelland Police Investigate Assault

Levelland police investigate assault from Saturday.

Levelland police were dispatched Saturday night to an apartment in the 700 Block of Martin Luther King. When officers arrived on the scene a female was standing on the balcony outside of the apartment yelling for help. According to police reports, the female victim had visible injuries. She told officers that a male subject in the residence had assaulted her. A child at the residence led officers to the suspect inside the residence. Officers noted based on evidence and preliminary investigations, police arrested Fabian Valderas, 30 of Levelland and charged him with Assault/Family Violence as well as Interference with an Emergency Request for Assistance as officers learned that he took a phone from the female victim when she attempted to call 911. A judge granted a 48 hour hold for the suspect.

Valderas was taken to the Hockley County Jail without incident. With the 48 hour hold, he was released on bond on August 24th, late Monday night officers were dispatched back to the same apartment by a Child Protective Service investigator, stating that the suspect identified as Valderas was in the residence in violation of a protective order. Police located Valderas in a back room, he was arrested on a charge of a violation of a protective order. He is being held in the Hockley County Jail on a $10,000 bond as of Wednesday morning.
