Levelland Police was dispatched to the Children’s Hope Campus on 5th Street, in reference to an assault on Sunday afternoon.
Upon arrival, officers were let in the facility at the south door by one of the victims. Officers noted a female was crying in the hallway and several juvenile females were at the north end of the hallway. Police were told that the juveniles stole keys to the facility and assaulted two employees. Police attempted to question the juveniles, however they unlocked the north door and fled outside. Officers searched the area, however, they were unable to locate the four juveniles.
Officers were told by one of the victims that she had tried to stop one of the juveniles from breaking a window, when one of the other juveniles stole her keys. A struggle ensued when two juveniles attempted to open a door and leave the facility and one employee was able to forcefully stop the juvenile from opening the door, however two other juveniles began assaulting the employee, knocking her to the ground. Both employees said they were bitten and one had suffered a head injury.
Child Protective Services was notified by police concerning the incident.
