Texas Governor Releases His Plan for Re-Opening the Economy

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has released information on re-opening the economy. His plan indicates the plan to re-open in phases.

Phase I will start on Friday, May 1st….

  1. Restaurants, shopping malls and movie theaters can re-open with a limit of 25% of their stated occupancy.
  2. The food courts and kids play areas in shopping malls must remain closed.
  3. Museums and Libraries may open on Friday, however they are subject to the 25% limit of stated occupancy.

Also, part of Phase I involves any county with less than 5 confirmed cases of COVID-19 may open with the limitation of 50% of stated occupancy. This would have to be certified by the County Judge.

Bars, gyms and hair and nail salons must remain closed. The Governor has said that Phase I will last atleast 2 weeks and he will re-evaluate and announce plans for Phase 2 around May 18th.
