A Stolen Lubbock Ambulance Stopped in Levelland After Chase, One Person Arrested

A Lubbock Aid Ambulance was stolen at just before 3:00 pm Saturday afternoon. According to DPS, the call came in from the area of Upland and 19th in Lubbock.

The ambulance was located east of Levelland and Levelland Police, Hockley County Sheriff’s Office, and DPS pursued. The ambulance was stopped with the assistance of spike strips near the intersection of Highway 114 and Alamo Road in Levelland. The female suspect who stole the ambulance saw the spike strips in the road and stopped. Units with Levelland PD, Hockley County SO and Texas DPS then barricaded the ambulance with their vehicles and pulled the driver from the ambulance. The driver then resisted arrest and had to be tased.

Leanne Gray, 27 was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle. She was transported to the Hockley County Jail, she is being held on bonds totalling $7,500.

Lubbock Aid Ambulance released a statement late Saturday saying, “We thank Law Enforcement for a successful apprehension on one of our stolen vehicles. We are thankful no one was injured and that none of our crew members or patients were on board during this unfortunate event.”

    She must have been drunk or on drugs or totally nuts to do this!!! I don’t believe I would steal an ambulance if I needed a vehicle. Rather stands out in a crowd. LOL.
