10 More Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Lubbock, 1 Death Confirmed

The City of Lubbock confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. This brings the total number of cases in Lubbock to 41. Unfortunately, the city also confirmed its first death from complications of the virus. The death was a Lubbock resident over the age of 60 and he had underlying health conditions.

The city had 8 new cases confirmed on Friday and six of those are associated with Whisperwood Nursing Home. It was noted that thus far it appears to be in staff members from the nursing home and one resident thus far. The Lubbock Health Department is preparing to quarantine all staff and residents of the nursing home to prevent the virus from spreading outside the facility.

Currently a total of 60 cases of the virus are confirmed on the South Plains including, one in Lamb county, one in Hale county, seven in Hockley county, 41 in Lubbock county, four in Terry county, two in Lynn county, one in Gaines county and three in Dawson county.
