A Levelland ISD School Resource Officer was dispatched to the Middle School campus Wednesday morning for possible drugs on the campus.
When the officer arrived, he met with one of the assistant principals on the campus, who reported that the contract drug dog team from Interquest was on campus performing a routine drug sweep of the campus and class rooms. It was reported that a leafy substance which was thought to be marijuana was found on a students clothing which he had left in the classroom when students left the room for the routine sweep of the classroom. The officer confirmed that the substance was marijuana and took possession of the substance.
The student was taken into custody and was transported to the Law Enforcement Center and processed. The Juvenile Probation Officer was contacted and the student was released to a parent.
Police also notified Assistant Superintendent Rodney Caddell and Middle School Principal Brad Clanton of the incident.
