Levelland Police Investigate Assault

Levelland Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 Block of Cactus Drive in Levelland on Saturday evening around 11:20 pm for an disturbance leading to an assault.

Officers were told by the victim at the scene that she had been assaulted, and the suspect had left the scene. As officers were on the scene, the suspect showed up on the scene, the suspect ignored officers at the scene and went inside the residence and closed the door. A witness then told officers, the victim was inside also. With the nature of the call, police gave orders for the suspect to open the door and come out of the residence, he ignored several orders by police and for the safety of the victim, they kicked the door down, the suspect then met them in a hall way. Officers immediately detained the suspect for investigation of the assault.

The victim was found in the residence with obvious physical injuries. The victim told police that the suspect, James Cavasos, 30 assaulted her. Police arrested Cavasos on a charge of Assault causing Injury. He was transported to the Hockley County Jail without incident. Police requested a 48 hour hold due to Domestic Violence.
