Seats Up for Election in Hockley County–Filing Underway

Filing is now underway with the party chair for seats up for election in Hockley County.

In the Sheriff’s Race, Ray Scifres has filed for another term. Curtis Thrash has filed for another term as County Commissioner Precinct 1, while Robert Dalton has filed for Constable Precinct 2, and Kenny Greenlee has filed for Constable Precinct #1.

Several other races have garnered attention including Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 currently held by Brenda Nock who has decided not to seek re-election. Paula Moody, Pam Kiser and Derek Lawless have filed for a spot on the ballat for that race. In the County Commissioner Precinct 3, Dryl Bush and David Beseda have filed for a place on the ballot, the seat is currently held by J.L. “Whitey” Barnett. Toney Cowan has filed for the Constable Precinct #5 position which is currently held by Michael Lance Scott.
