Levelland Police Execute Arrest Warrant Wednesday

Levelland Police were on routine patrol Wednesday morning and located a wanted suspect outside the residence at 306 North College Avenue. Two officers were in the area and knew the suspect had an outstanding warrant.

One officer located the suspect at the back of the residence and gave him verbal commands to come toward them. He ignored the verbal commands and went inside the residence through the back door, he went through the house and opened the front door where a second officer was waiting and gave verbal commands to come out of the home, the suspect ignored the verbal commands and the officer pulled his taser and ordered the suspect out with his hands up. The suspect then told the officer he was trying to talk to his father and was coming out. With continued verbal commands the suspect exited the home and was arrested without further incident.

Angel Chavez, 23 was arrested for evading arrest or detention and the outstanding warrant for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Police noted, a use of force report was turned into the Captain on duty due to an officer exhibiting his Taser.
