Levelland Fire Department Responds to Oil Fire

Levelland Fire Department crews responded to a small oil fire Tuesday afternoon around 1:00 pm.

The fire was in the 400 block of Avenue T at the Capital Steel yard. Reports from Emergency Management on the scene indicate someone was cutting on a steel tank that had a small amount of residual oil in it that caught fire. The fire created a large plume of black smoke that could be seen in the western part of town, fire crews had the blaze under control and out within minutes of their arrival.

No injuries were reported and crews were back to the station within an hour.
