Littlefield Police Make Arrest Following a Vehicle Pursuit that Ended in Shallowater

Littlefield Police Department issued a report late last night concerning a pursuit which started in Littlefield and ended in Shallowater.

Police reported that an officer recognized a wanted felon in a 2010 Toyota Corola on Duggan Avenue. Officers immediately attempted to make a traffic stop, however the driver evaded officers in the vehicle, traveling south on Hall Avenue and turning east on Highway 84, proceeding east with speeds reaching 90 to 100 miles per hour. The Texas Department of Public Safety, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Game Wardens joined in the pursuit. The pursuit continued to Shallowater where DPS executed a spike strip at FM 179 in Shallowater. The car came to a stop approximately 1 mile east of FM 179.

The suspect, Francisco Martinez, 37 was arrested and transported back to Littlefield and booked into the Lamb County Jail on various charges as well as the felony warrant parole violation.

No one was injured in the pursuit and the Littlefield Police thank the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, DPS and Texas Game Wardens for their assistance.
