Hockley County Sheriff Announces Run for Second Term

Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres has announced he will seek another term as Sheriff of Hockley County in the March 2020 Primary election.

He says he has been fortunate and blessed to serve as Sheriff since January, 2017. In his announcement he said he is running because he believes in vision, transparency, partnership and community. He said while we have accomplished much so far, their is more to do.

The sheriff’s office has established partnerships with local stakeholders, to make the system of justice effective and efficient. The office has also established partnerships with local agencies to pool resources and proactively combat the drug problem locally. Scifres said “we have formed partnerships with Levelland Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety to work together on the drug problem.” He went on to say they have worked in Austin to make sure Hockley County voices are heard in matters that contain to criminal justice.

Scifres will officially file once filing opens for the March 2020 Primary election.
