The Levelland Police Department was dispatched Sunday morning at just after 10:30 am to the Covenant Hospital Levelland Emergency room in reference to an assault that had occurred. According to reports the assault occurred at a residence in the 600 block of North Elgin.
Officers met with a male subject that stated his son and daughter had gotten into a fight and his daughter had cut her brother with a knife. Officers spoke with the injured victim at the hospital who stated that he and his sister were having an argument over the clothes dryer. He wanted the dryer left off because of it heating the house up so much and his sister turned the dryer on, he turned the dryer off and his sister got a pocket knife out and cut him. Officers noted a major laceration, which according to the father required 12 stitches. Officers were told that the sister was at the residence. Officers immediately went to the residence, the suspect was located and after questioning surrendered the pocket knife used to officers. Officers took pictures at the residence, noting that blood had been cleaned off of the kitchen floor.
Officers arrested Amy McClean, 28 on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. She was transported to the Hockley County Jail. Officers requested a 48 hour hold due to the family violence charge. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.
