The South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) has announced that Levelland Mayor, Barbra Pinner, will serve as Secretary for the organization for the next year. SPAG serves a 15-county area in North West Texas, and is one of 24 such organizations in the state.
“We are excited to have our council members involved on regional boards, like the SPAG board,” said Erik Rejino, City Manager. “It’s a great compliment to Mayor Pinner that they recognize the value of her knowledge and experience. It is particularly exciting that she will bring what she learns from her involvement with SPAG back to Levelland.”
Mayor Pinner is equally excited, saying, “It is going to be interesting to learn the inner workings of SPAG. I am honored to be a part of and to help with their amazing work.”
Local governments created the organization as a service organization for themselves. SPAG represents the interests of local governments and acts as a facilitator in economic, social and physical development of these communities. Most recently SPAG assisted with attracting Enviro Tech Chemical Services to Levelland.
Pinner officially begins her duties September 18, 2019, at the 52nd Annual General Assembly Meeting at Spirit Ranch in Lubbock.
