Levelland Police were on routine patrol on August 15th around 4:20 pm near 2nd street and College Avenue. While on routine patrol police noticed an individual known to have a warrant, at the Allsup’s Convenience Store. An additional officer was called to assist and officers made contact with the individual.
Police made contact with Elias Aragones, 24 of Levelland. He was confirmed to have a warrant for Driving without a license and No Seat Belt. An initial search of the individual prior to be placed under arrest yielded a methamphetamine pipe, he was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants and placed in the patrol vehicle and transported to the Hockley County Jail.
Once he was taken in to the jail, officers made a post inspection of the patrol vehicle and located two zip lok baggies containing a crystal like substance. When police questioned Aragones he initially denied placing the bag in the patrol vehicle, however, after officers told him they had made a pre-transport inspection and it was not there, he admitted to placing the contraband in the patrol vehicle. He was then charged with additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He remains in the Hockley County Jail with no bond on the warrant charges and a $10,000 bond on the drug charges.
