The Texas Association of Broadcasters has named the winners of awards to be presented at the 2019 Awards Gala as part of the 2019 TAB Convention and Trade Show in August.
The Texas Association of Broadcaster’s 2019 Radio Broadcaster of the Year – Tania Moody – is not only a female owner/operator, she is the sole owner of KLVT-AM in Levelland.
Moody started in broadcasting in 2006 as a rookie sales rep for the High Plains Radio Network. In two years, she advanced to Sales Manager and became the Station Manager in 2010. She started her own LMA in 2012 and went into business for herself – purchasing KLVT-AM just one year later.
In only three short years, Moody’s Cute Boots Broadcasting had paid for the station, demonstrating the viability of Small Market Radio as a business opportunity for young entrepreneurs.
Moody not only manages her broadcast team of three, she also handles more than 50% of the sales for the station, performs day-to-day administrative duties and hosts/produces a very successful morning show.
The Texas Association of Broadcasters presented the inaugural Broadcaster of the Year award in 1986 and in those 33 years, only six women have won the award.
Moody was named Levelland Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2012, Marigold of the Year in 2017 and received the George R. Keeling Main Street Award in 2018.
She also serves as Board President for the Levelland ISD Board of Trustees, Past President of the Levelland Main Street Board, Past President of the Hockley County Endowment Board, Past Vice President of the SPC Texan Club, President of the Region 17 South Plains Association of School Boards, President of Wallace Theater Board of Directors, Member of Legislative Advisory Board for Region 17, and Member of Levelland Noon Rotary Club. She has also served as board member for the Levelland Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and Texas Association of Broadcasters.
The award will be presented as part of the Awards Gala set for Thursday, Aug. 8th in Austin.
As a proud Rotarian, she emulates the phrase, “Service above Self.” You will rarely find a day she is not engaged in serving the community she calls home. She is all in when it comes to the phrase “Livin’ in Levelland and Lovin’ it!
