Canyon Faull pled guilty to a manslaughter charge in the 286th District Court this week. He had been indicted on a murder charge, however that charge was dropped when he pled guilty to manslaughter. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Faull was indicted for murder in May of 2018 following his arrest in a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Hickory. On April 8, 2018 police were called to the 100 block of Hickory where Faull was a roommate to Matthew Sanchez. Police reports indicate when they arrived on the scene Sanchez was found lying in the street with life threatening injuries. He was transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock, he died of his injuries on April 9th, 2018 at UMC in Lubbock.
Faull told police he had shot Sanchez with a shotgun after he entered the residence. The shooting stemmed from previous problems with Sanchez according to the arrest warrant. Faull was arrested after the shooting and has been in the Hockley County jail on bonds totaling more than $500,000. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with or fabricating evidence with intent to impair an investigation and murder.
