Sallie Morris, the owner and operator of Morris Safe House, a no-kill animal shelter located in Hockley County reported that early Sunday morning she found 12 puppies dumped outside her shelter in frigid temperatures.
She said that the puppies were found outside shivering from the below freezing temperature and most of them had worms. She noted that no one had called the shelter to see if she had space or funding to be able to take the puppies in. She estimated she would be out $4,000 in getting the puppies vaccinated, spayed or neutered and finding the puppies homes.
Morris Safe House is funded mostly through personal funding as well as some grants and donations.
Morris said the Lab Mix puppies are available for adoption immediately, however, they cannot go home with anyone until they are spayed or neutered.
