Two men were arrested after they were found to be in possession of more than six grams of methamphetamine following a traffic stop.
Levelland Police reported that a Texas Department of Public Safety Special Agent was monitoring a vehicle on Highway 114 in Levelland for a possible traffic violation. Levelland Police officers made the traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Adam Bautista, 33 of Levelland and the passenger was identified as Antonio Mindieta, 30 of Levelland. Mindieta informed the officer that there was an active warrant for his arrest. He was detained while the warrant was confirmed. The special agent asked the driver for permission to search the vehicle which was denied. A K9 was deployed for an open air search and alerted on the passenger side of the vehicle, giving the officers probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search their were four separate baggies containing a white substance. The white substance was field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a controlled substance. Bautista was also charged with Driving with an Invalid License, Evading Arrest of Detention and Theft of Property. He is being held on a combined, $45,000 bond. Mindieta was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a controlled substance. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
