Nationwide Email Bomb Threat Hits Close to Home

On Thursday, their was a nationwide email bomb threat sent to various institutions across the United States.  One of those occurred in Levelland and was one of the first ones received nationwide.

The Levelland Police Department initially responded to South Plains Rural Health on FM 300 in Levelland where the email was received demanding $20,000 in bitcoin or a bomb would go off in the building.  Levelland Police, Hockley County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS all immediately responded along with Levelland and Hockley County Emergency Management.

The building was evacuated including the daycare connected to the facility and all children was released to their parents in an orderly fashion.  The Lubbock County Bomb Squad was contacted and sent a team with a bomb sniffing dog to Levelland.  They totally went through the building and no device or threat was found, an all clear was given at just before 4:00 pm.

This is part of a nationwide incident and is being investigated on a Federal Level with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
