Hockley County Constable Arrested for DWI & Open Container

UPDATE:  Scott was released from jail Saturday morning on a bond of $1,000.  He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, first offense and an Open Container of Alcohol in a motor vehicle.  Scott was also Chairperson of Professional Services and Energy Department and Professor of Law Enforcement Technology at South Plains College.  KLVT News has received a statement from South Plains College confirming that Lance Scott voluntarily resigned from the college effective, December 31st, 2018.

Hockley County Constable for Precinct 5, Michael Lance Scott, 45  was arrested and booked into the Hockley County Jail Friday night.

Lance Scott, Pct. 5 Constable for Hockley County was involved in a minor one vehicle accident on highway 114, just east of Smyer Friday night.  According to DPS reports, Scott lost control of his vehicle and went off the roadway.  Officers at the scene took Scott into custody and he is in the Hockley County Jail as of Friday night, bond has not been set.

Scott has been Constable since 2013 and his current term ends in December, 2020.
