Following an extensive search on air and by foot a suspect was arrested in Cochran County and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Cochran County Sheriff Jorge DeLaCruz said Isaiah Morin, 34 was accused of hitting a woman with a vehicle. Reports indicate it started Monday morning around 8:00 am when Cochran County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in Morton following the incident. Officers said Morin fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Morin was spotted by deputies driving in the area and they tried to initiate a traffic stop, Morin then fled on foot. Sheriff DeLaCruz said that officers secured a perimeter and called for assistance. Whiteface CISD police, Cochran County Constable, Hockley County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety all assisted in the search. A Texas DPS Helicopter also provided air support.
Approximately an hour into the search Morin was found hiding in a tree. He was arrested and remains in custody of the Cochran County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest and Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
