Hockley County Accepts Resignation of County Clerk and Appoints Replacement

Hockley County Commissioners met in a special meeting on Thursday.  They accepted the resignation of the County Clerk.

County Judge Sharla Baldridge said she had received the resignation letter from County Clerk, Irene Gumula as County Clerk.  The resignation is effective at 5:00 pm on May 31st, 2018.  Gumula has almost 38 years of service with Hockley County, the last several years as County Clerk.  She ran for re-election in the March Primary, however, she was defeated by Nicci Palermo.  The court expressed their appreciation to Gumula for her many years of service to Hockley County.

Following accepting the resignation, Commissioners on the recommendation of the County Judge appointed Nicci Palermo as the County Clerk effective June 1st, 2018.  She will complete the term of Gumula which would have ended December 31st.
