Burn Ban In Effect in Hockley County Effective Immediately

letstalkThe Hockley County Commissioners Court authorized the county judge to sign an order prohibiting all outdoor burning in Hockley County.

The ban pertains to all outdoor burning in the unincorporated area of the county for 90 days unless this order is lifted earlier by order of the Commissioners Court.  The order is adopted pursuant to Local Government Code and does not prohibit outdoor burning authorized by The Texas Commission on Environment Quality under the code.

A violation of this ban is considered a class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00.
