Former Levelland Softball coach and teacher, Justin Hays accepts a plea bargain and will be on probation for six years.
He entered a plea of guilty on the charge of improper relationship between and educator and a student. Hays, 43 was arrested in August, 2016 after he was indicted on a charge of indecency with a child and online solicitation of a minor.
Hays was sentenced to six years community supervision, and was fined $750. He will also be required to pay $345 in court costs. The sentencing occurred Friday in the 286th District Court. As part of the plea bargain, Hays will surrender his teaching certificate. It was noted that the offense is a non-register-able offense, thus Hays will not be required to register as a sex offender.
Hays was arrested August 25th, 2016 in Lubbock on the charges. He reportedly had sexual contact with a minor under the age of 17 in April and May, 2016. He was also accused of soliciting another minor in May, 2016. He resigned from Levelland ISD on May 26th, 2016.
