New details have been released in a deadly shooting in Lubbock Friday morning. According to a police report the suspect assaulted his ex-girlfriend and then shot her boyfriend multiple times, upon their arrival at her home.
The report states, Lubbock Police received a 911 hang-up call from the residence Friday morning. While en-route to the property, police were advised that multiple shots had been fired and the suspect fled the scene.
Casey Owens, 38 surrendered to police on Saturday morning, one day after an arrest warrant was issued in the shooting death of Landon Terry, 38 according to information from the Lubbock Police Department. Terry reportedly was dating the female victim at the time of the shooting and Terry and Owens knew each other. Responding officers bandaged gunshot wounds to Terry’s chest, left leg and right arm, he became unresponsive at the scene and was transported to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.
Officers say, through their investigation, they believe that Owens entered the home without permission and hid waiting on the female victim and Terry to return home. The woman also said that Owens struck her in the head with a handgun before shooting Terry multiple times.
Owens was arrested at a home on 98th street in Lubbock Saturday morning. He remains in the Lubbock County jail on a $500,000 bond. He faces a sentence of five years to life in prison for the murder charge.
