GROOM, TX: The Texas Department of Public Safety seized 37 pounds of cocaine and almost five pounds of methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Carson County. According to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, a trooper stopped a 2007 Dodge Nitro traveling east on Interstate 40 near Groom for an unspecified traffic violation. The trooper discovered multiple plastic wrapped bundles of cocaine and two duct taped bundles of methamphetamine inside a hidden compartment.
AMARILLO, TX: Five employees of Amarillo ISD is not back at work. The five were placed on leave in the aftermath of a controversial Facebook post. An attorney for the employees said that at least four of them is planned to file a defamation lawsuit against the post’s author. Amarillo ISD issued a statement yesterday saying, the employees had returned to work and the district had “completed its investigation and addressed the situation appropriately.”
ODESSA, TX: Odessa police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a hit and run investigation which occurred in mid September near Permian High School. We are told that a black pickup hit an 18 year old and drove away from the accident. The 18 year old was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. AMARILLO, TX: State Representative Four Price of Amarillo is weighing his options after being encouraged by other Texas House members to replace outgoing House Speaker Joe Straus according to a spokesperson for Price. Straus announced on Wednesday he would not seek re-election in 2018.
