The gunman in the shooting of a Texas Tech Police Officer Monday night was indicted Wednesday on Federal Charges of Possession of a stolen weapon.
A federal court in Lubbock issued the indictment late yesterday charging Hollis Alvin James Daniels, III with possession of a stolen firearm. The indictment stated Daniels, “did knowingly possess, conceal, store and dispose of a stolen firearm. The firearm is described as a Springfield Model .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Reportedly, the gun had been shipped in interstate and foreign commerce before the firearm was stolen.
Daniels is now listed in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a hold for US Marshall’s on the weapons charge as well as a Five Million dollar bond on the Capital Murder charge.
The Lubbock Police Department has taken over investigation of the case and will release more in the coming days.
