The Levelland Police Department Detectives are investigating an unattended death at an apartment complex in downtown Levelland. According to reports, EMS crews and first responders were called to the Legacy Apartments Thursday morning for an unresponsive individual.
Police have identified the individual as 63 year old RockEye Dow. He was transported to Covenant Hospital in Levelland and pronounced dead a short time later.
According to police reports, a woman came from the Dow apartment earlier Thursday to a neighboring apartment and asked for some aspirin. Later that morning, Dow sent a text message to the same neighbor and asked her to go to the store for him. When she returned from the store and knocked on Dow’s door, he told her to go away. A few minutes later the woman in the apartment called the neighbor and said something was wrong with Dow. When the neighbor went to check on him, he was unresponsive and she called 911. Police have tried to locate the woman who was in Dow’s apartment, but has not been able to.
An autopsy has been ordered and police say it may be months before the final autopsy report is released. The death is being investigated as an unattended death, there is no word if fowl play is suspected.
