South Plains College will host the ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the Lubbock Center on Tuesday, September 26 at 10:00am
The Lubbock Center is located at 3907 Ave. Q. The South Plains College Lubbock Center offers college-level career and technical education programs and courses that focus on business, office administration, computer technology, automotive technology, machinist trades, welding technology and industrial manufacturing/emerging technologies. A new culinary arts program is being developed for the center and will open in 2018. Additionally, students have access to a variety of academic transfer courses that support the technical degree programs offered at the center.
The programs being housed in the Lubbock Center started at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center 20 years ago. During that time Lubbock ISD and community partners and SPC worked to support the development of Technical and Workforce development to the south plains.
The Lubbock Center houses several hi-tech computer classrooms, instructional classrooms, a millwork lab, metals lab, welding lab, automotive technology lab, and a construction trades lab.
The Lubbock Center was funded in part by donations from the CH Foundation, Helen Jones Foundation, J.T. and Mary Talkington Chartible Foundation, Lubbock Economic Development Alliance and United Supermarkets.
