Multiple law enforcement agencies and private citizens have been searching since Sunday evening for a child who was unaccounted for after two boats collided on the lake Sunday afternoon.
Captain Aryn Corley with the Texas Game Wardens said nine people were treated for injuries following the accident. University Medical Center in Lubbock said they received six patients and at least one of those remains in critical condition.
Rescuers searched Sunday night from approximately 8:00pm to after 10:00pm and returned to the lake Monday morning and again Tuesday morning for a child which was unaccounted for after the accident according to authorities on the scene. At approximately 9:00am Tuesday morning it was announced that the child’s body was found by a retired law enforcement officer flying a private helicopter over the area. The medical examiners office was called to the scene and a full investigation is underway.
Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, however, they are still investigating the accident. The lake was re-opened to the public Tuesday morning.
