The Levelland Fire Department is responding to the call. The department received the call for manpower and equipment to assist in search and rescue areas in areas ravaged by Hurricane Harvey.
A three man crew and two trucks from Levelland are on their way to the Crystal Beach area for their assignment.
The team will be used as a strike team at this point. Fire Chief Bill Durham said the three will remain in the area four days and the trucks will stay in the area for seven to nine days. After four days another crew will take over. He said this will continue until the help is no longer needed.
The three were deployed through the State of Texas through the Texas State Fireman and the Fire Marshall’s Association.
