Levelland Fire Department Responds to Large Structure Fire Thursday Afternoon

Fire Department LogoThe Levelland Fire Department was called to the scene of a large multi-structure fire in the 2300 block Robert Lee Street just east of Levelland.

Robert Lee Street runs through a trailer park near Veretto Road and East Ellis.  Atleast 3 structures was fully engulfed in flames and several vehicles were reported on fire as well.  According to fire crews 1 vehicle was declared a total loss and several structures are heavily damaged if not destroyed.  Homes along East Ellis and Robert Lee were evacuated due to the threat of High Winds causing the fire to spread.

Levelland Fire Department was called to the scene around 2:45pm and immediately called for mutual aid for West Carlisle, Sundown Volunteer Fire Department and Whiteface Volunteer Fire Department.  Brownfield Fire Department was also notified to be on stand by for mutual aid.  Fire crews remained on the scene for nearly 4 hours Thursday.

The Levelland Fire Department thanks all of the Emergency crews that responded including the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office and Hockley County Emergency Management.  They also thank Butch’s Rathole and Anchor Service for sending several water transport trucks to the scene to replenish Levelland Fire Trucks.  They also thank the many community members who brought water and snacks for the firemen.

No one was injured in the blaze and the cause of the fire remains under investigation of the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office and the Levelland Fire Marshall’s office.
