The National Weather Service office in Lubbock confirmed that one tornado was reported Tuesday night as the storms moved through the western counties of the South Plains.
Matt Ziebell, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lubbock said a tornado was reported in a rural area of Cochran County just north of Morton. The tornado was on the ground for approximately 10 seconds, however, it did not hit anything and no damage was reported.
Ziebell said the storms Tuesday night produced several tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings. Only a trace amount of moisture was received in Levelland. Rainfall amounts varied from .21 in Morton to nearly two inches just north of Friona.
