South Plains College hosted the 2017 Service Club Luncheon Wednesday afternoon.
Nominees for the Jerry Barton Service Achievement Awards were recognized. Tania Moody was nominated by the Levelland Marigolds organization. As part of their nomination the Marigolds said, Tania is a leader by example and is currently serving as President of the organization. They noted that she has created a facebook page for the organization to reach out to members and help promote the club for new members. They also noted that she had expanded the annual Random Acts of Kindness the organization participates in each year to thank our local first responders and others in the community for their service.
Michael Stueart, nominated by the Levelland Noon Lions Club was selected as the recipient of the 2017 Jerry Barton Service Achievement Award. The group said in their nomination that Stueart exceeds the challenging requirements and expectations for the award. He has served as President of the Noon Lions and has worked to motivate members to attend meetings and other events to serve the community. He is a member of the Levelland Main Street Program, Levelland L.I.F.E. Foundation, SPC Foundation, Keep Levelland Beautiful committee and has contributed to the Hockley County Relay for Life. According to the nomination, Stueart is devoted to his family, friends and the Levelland community.
