Hockley County Now Under Burn Ban

BURN_BAN_IN_EFFECT1__2__with_siggyHockley County Judge Sharla Baldridge has signed the order for a burn ban in Hockley County which was approved by Hockley County Commissioners in a recent meeting.

The burn ban is in effect for all of Hockley County for 90 days unless the restrictions are terminated earlier based on a determination made by the Texas Forest Service that drought conditions no longer exist or a determination made by Hockley County Commissioners Court that circumstances which required the order no longer exist.

The ban makes it a Class C misdemeanor to perform any outdoor burning.  A violation of this order is punishable by a fine of up to $500.
