The Levelland Main Street Program recently received a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture Texas Capital Fund Main Street Improvements Program.
The Texas Capital Fund Main Street Improvements Program provides eligible Texas Main Street communities with matching grant funds to expand or enhance public infrastructure in historic Main Street areas. The grant will be used to continue improvements in the designated Levelland Main Street area in the form of sidewalk and ADA improvements. The improvements will be consistent with the Main Street Beautification Guidelines previously adopted by the City council as well as previous projects completed by the City.
The City of Levelland has been a Texas Main Street City since 1998. the Levelland Main Street Advisory Board, appointed by the Levelland city council, provides input on the direction of the program. “It is important for the Levelland Main Street Program to do everything it can to ensure that the Main Street District thrives and prospers for our businesses and our community.” said Main Street Advisory Board Chair Tanner Terrell. “this grant will allow us to continue investing in downtown and will result in a significant visual impact in the Main Street area.
The South Plains Association of Governments worked with City staff to develop the grant application and will also be administering the grant. Construction is not expected to begin until late summer or early fall. Areas to be directly impacted include the 700, 800 and 900 block of Austin Street as well as the 700 block of Ave. G.
