Structure Fire leaves home heavily damaged

20170131_205406The Levelland Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 102 Redwood in Levelland Tuesday night at just after 8:00pm.  Flames were visible from the garage when firefighters arrived on the scene.

KLVT News was told by a witness that he was driving by the property and noticed flames coming from the garage of the home and immediately called 911 and started to fight the blaze with a fire extinguisher they had in their vehicle.  He said an explosion was heard coming from the garage, it is unknown what the explosion was.  We are told by the Levelland Fire Department that the explosion is not the source of the fire.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11pm and the home was blocked off and the Fire Marshall’s office will be investigating.  Everyone was able to get out of the home without injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  The fire department estimates the loss nearing $100,000 in damage and contents.  It is expected that number will go up.
