South Plains Council of the Boy Scouts raise over $10,000 with Distinguished Citizen Luncheon

The South Plains Council of the Boy Scouts of America reported that as of Saturday, January 28 they had received $10,740 from the Distinguished Citizen Luncheon held on Friday.

District Executive for the South Plains Council, Trey Smith said “that is a fantastic start to the campaign” in a statement to KLVT News.

As part of the luncheon the Friends of Scouting recognized Levelland Mayor Barbra Pinner with the Distinguished Citizen award for 2017.  Stephen John, planning committee spokesperson said “Pinner serves and promotes Levelland as a great place to live and raise a family.”  She has worked with the American Cancer Society and has supported many worthwhile community projects that touch many of our citizens, especially our youth.

The Friends of Scouting also remembered the late George Keeling a former Levelland businessman and community advocate.  He passed away on October 17, 2016 and was an avid supporter of scouting.
