The Levelland Police Department continues to search for one suspect after he fled from a car that fled from Police last week.
A Levelland Police Office received word that a stolen vehicle was approaching Levelland from the East and was traveling west on 114. The officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle immediately began to accelerate and continued traveling west on 114 through the Sherman and Highway 385 intersections continuing west to Ave. T. The vehicle turned left on Ave. T and immediately turned to the right off of Ave. T traveling down the railroad track west at a high rate of speed. The driver eventually turned into a vacant field off of Ave. X. Officers stayed with the vehicle until the driver finally crashed in the field.
When officers approached the vehicle both the driver and passenger doors were open and the vehicle was unoccupied. A Hockley County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted one of the suspects hiding behind a fence on Ave. X. The suspect identified as Justin Alexander Johnson, 22 of Levelland admitted to being the passenger in the vehicle and fleeing from officers after the crash. He was arrested and taken to the Hockley County Jail. Officers continue to search for the driver
The owner of the stolen vehicle was notified and the vehicle was returned.
